Ella, Sri Lanka

Once with little more than a few shops, guesthouses and hotels, Ella has become a tourist hotspot.

Ella is a place where you can relax in a peaceful guesthouse or partake in entertainment ranging from quiet bars to pumping night clubs. It remains a beautiful, small and friendly village in the hills of Sri Lanka, boasting an idyllic climate it occupies a very scenic vantage point with views on a fine day stretching right across the south coast of Sri Lanka.

Waterfalls Homestay is situated on a picturesque (albeit a bit rough) stretch of road approximately 1.3 kilometers from the center of Ella town, an enjoyable stroll from the main street that’s definitely worth venturing off the beaten track for.

If traveling independently there are plenty of 3 wheelers happy to bring you here. The cost from the village or train station is around 1000 rupees. But of course, as with most things in Sri Lanka prices are dependent on your negotiation skills.
